Governor of West Java: Danone Aqua's Breakthrough Relevant to West Java's Leading Mission in Renewable Energy

Sukabumi Regent H. Marwan Hamami witnessed the inauguration of the Aqua - Mekarsari Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) from the Sukabumi Hall. The inauguration was carried out by the Governor of West Java H.M Ridwan Kamil virtually, Tuesday (21/9/2021).
H. Marwan said the Regional Government of Sukabumi Regency welcomed this innovation. According to him, the breakthrough made by PT Aqua Golden Mississippi is a tangible proof of the company's contribution to the environment.
"This innovation is able to reduce the carbon footprint in an effort to prevent the impact of climate change," he said.
The realization of this rooftop PLTS, continued H. Marwan, is a proof of Danone Aqua's seriousness in supporting the targets of the West Java Provincial Government, especially in increasing the new renewable energy mix (EBT).
"The West Java Province general energy plan for 2018-2050 targets the achievement of the primary energy mix of NRE at least 17 percent in 2025 and 20 percent in 2050," he said.
Marwan encourage the cooperation of all stakeholders to be more solid. This is to optimize efforts to increase the NRE mix that contributes to regional development.
"Including the periodic delivery of information related to the latest developments on the Danone-Aqua initiative in the use of rooftop solar power plants at the Aqua-Mekarsari Factory to the Sukabumi Regency Government," he said.
West Java Governor H.M Ridwan Kamil appreciated this concrete initiative. The spirit of Danone Aqua is like the vision of West Java at the forefront of renewable energy.
"Proud of the initiative of Aqua Mekarsari PLTS roof. This is a massive pilot in West Java. In fact, all factories in West Java are required to copy and paste this rooftop PLTS," he said.
Ridwan Kamil congratulates Sukabumi Regency, whose area has recorded history as the initiator of PLTS on top of the factory.
"It is time for the state to show its commitment to renewable energy. In 2050 Indonesia's energy is from renewable energy. This energy concept must be cheap, clean, and sustainable," he added.
Ridwan Kamil hopes that this initiative can inspire other regions. So that by 2050 Indonesia can 100 percent use renewable energy.
Vice President General Secretary of Danone Indonesia Vera Galuh Sugijanto said, the Aqua-Mekarsari plant is one of the largest in Indonesia. In fact, the capacity is 13 percent of all Danone Aqua in Indonesia.
"Therefore, the rooftop PLTS system in (Aqua-Mekarsari) has a capacity of 2,112 KWP. It is even capable of producing electricity of 2.3 GWP per year. Including being able to reduce 1,916 tons of carbon dioxide per year," he said.
The installation of this rooftop PLTS, he continued, is a manifestation of Danone Indonesia's long-term vision. This is also a pro-active sustainability initiative in contributing to the environment.
"The threat to all of us is climate change. So, it is a shared obligation to take an active role in dealing with climate change," he added.
According to him, there have been four factories that have installed PLTS roofs. The factories are spread in Cikarang, Banyuwangi, Klaten, and Sukabumi Regency.
"Of the 21 factories, only four have installed PLTS roofs. Hopefully, 17 other factories can follow," he said.
