Thailand Extends Free Insurance for Tourists Until the End of the Year

The Thai government has extended the free travel insurance program, "Thailand Traveler Safety," to all foreign tourists. The program was initially launched on January 1st and was scheduled to end on August 31st, 2024, but has now been extended until December 31st, 2024.

The Thailand Traveler Safety insurance provides significant coverage for international tourists. For fatal accidents, the deceased's family can receive up to 1 million baht as compensation. Coverage is extended to 300,000 baht for incidents resulting in organ loss or permanent disability, while medical expenses due to accidents are covered up to 500,000 baht.
Sermsak Pongpanit, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, emphasized the importance of extending the free travel insurance program to support the safety and well-being of international tourists.
Thailand has taken proactive steps to welcome an influx of tourists. The target for foreign tourist arrivals in 2024 has been increased to 36.7 million, driven by favorable visa policies and vigorous tourism promotion efforts.
