Coca-Cola Indonesia officially launched a message that reads 'Recycle Me' on packaging labels as of Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Triyono Prijosoesilo, Director of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability of PT Coca-Cola Indonesia, said that the message is found on every packaging label of all Coca-Cola brands and products.

"This message aims to invite consumers to recycle their used PET plastic bottles and cans after consumption," he said in a written statement.

He said PET plastic packaging has a high value and can be recycled into new packaging or valuable items. Thus, Coca-Cola wants to help prevent beverage packaging from turning into garbage.

According to him, this effort is a priority and is Coca-Cola's commitment to be part of the solution together with partners.

For this reason, his party involves consumers and invites the importance of the process of collecting and recycling used packaging. This step was taken as part of Coca-Cola's vision of creating a "World Without Waste".

He explained that in 2018, Coca-Cola set a key goal of its "World Without Waste" initiative, which is to help collect and recycle every bottle or can sold globally by 2030.

"The goal is to ensure 100% of its packaging is recyclable by 2025 and to use at least 50% of recycled materials in its packaging by 2030," he explained.

Triyono explained that Coca-Cola's product packaging with the message 'Recycle Me' is the latest step and is part of the company's holistic approach to addressing the issue of packaging waste in the Southeast Asia region.

All bottles and cans of Coca-Cola products, he said, are designed to be recycled. In addition to improving our collection and recycling infrastructure, we want to use the power of the brand to encourage more people to recycle.

"After enjoying our beverage products, consumers can help collect and recycle the bottles," added Triyono.

Triyono said, Coca-Cola also understands that one of the most effective ways to play a role is to display the 'Recycle Me' message on each product's packaging label.

He added that the message 'Recycle Me' can now be found on all Coca-Cola brands and product packaging in Indonesia as well as in all ASEAN countries. The transition to the new packaging label is expected to be almost completely completed by the end of the year.

"In addition, Coca-Cola Indonesia will increase recycling messages in marketing campaigns and social media channels to encourage consumers to increase recycling activities," he explained.

To launch the campaign, Coca-Cola collaborated with Waste4Change, a company that provides waste management solutions as a partner. Later, the collected packaging will be recycled and turned into useful goods.

The 'Recycle Me' program lasts for three months, starting from October 28 to December 31, 2021. Consumers can send six PET plastic bottles or six used cans of various Coca-Cola products to 16 waste banks available in the DKI Jakarta area.

The first 1,000 consumers who participate will receive a postage subsidy of up to a maximum of IDR 25,000. In addition, consumers have the opportunity to earn reward points that can be exchanged for telephone credit, electricity tokens and e-wallet worth a maximum of IDR 25,000 at various available merchants.
