The Organization of Rice Exporting Countries (OREC) describes a project by a small group of Southeast Asian countries to create an organization with the same name. This group consists, in alphabetical order, of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The project came to international media attention following statements made by Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej on 30 April 2008.
