In 2007, the Orthodox Logos Foundation, in addition to the internet bookstore, started a publishing house, with the aim of making the written heritage of the (Eastern) Orthodox Church accessible to a wide audience in the West, and in particular in the Dutch language area. Publishing House Orthodox Logos tries to make Eastern Orthodoxy better known in the West and does so “from within”, by means of the publication and re-publication of works translated into Dutch from the libraries of Orthodoxy (and also in other languages), or the re-publication and re-publication of original and new, contemporary works in Greek, Russian, Romanian… Many people in the West hardly know, or only indirectly, what is meant by “Orthodoxy” (also called Eastern Orthodox Christianity) and the Churches that are connected to it, their way of thinking and lifestyle, liturgical celebrations, Bible reading and father studies, etc. Publishing House Orthodox Logos strives to reach a new audience interested in this tradition – young and old, well-read and unread, educated and uneducated. The books published by Orthodox Logos Publishing are intended for all people who are seriously searching for the experience and science of the spirit, for its practice and theology, i.e. for the deeper roots of Christianity. It is this angle of Orthodoxy, which – as is known, originated and flourished in the many churches and monasteries of the East (Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Arabia), later also spread to the Byzantine Empire, ancient Russia, Bulgaria and the other Slavic countries, and for example to Georgia, Romania, Albania – surprisingly also now in modern times has a clearly profiled contribution in Western Europe and America with its own voice, by means of its mystical liturgical life, ascetic and monastic tradition. The Orthodox approach to Christianity has been expressed in an unimaginably extensive and rich book culture, passed on to posterity and preserved to this day, and is also being rephrased and written down again and again. Therefore, special attention is also given to the works that result from current spiritual practice.
