Türk Metal was founded on July 10, 1963 under the name "Turkish Metal Workers Federation". In 1973, its name was changed to Türk Metal Union. Türk Metal, which summarizes its union perspective with the understanding of "We Want to Produce, Earn, and Make Others Earn", continues its activities as an authorized union in many important workplaces in the automotive, white goods, electronics, iron and steel and sub-industry. It is a union that has provided education to approximately 100 thousand workers with their spouses to date within the scope of the Joint Education Project initiated and continuing together with the Turkish Metal Industrialists' Union (MESS). Türk Metal is a union that can always provide social opportunities to its members within the framework of the social unionism approach. It provides university preparation and foreign language courses to the children of its members, organizes a congress every year on March 8 Women Workers' Day, provides funeral and ambulance vehicles in the regions where its branches are located, organizes Children's Congresses, organizes Family Congresses consisting of 2500 members, their spouses and children. It has 5-star hotels that it offers to its members. In addition to its own hotels such as Ankara Büyük Anadolu Hotel, Didim Büyük Anadolu Resort Hotel, Ereğli Büyük Anadolu Hotel, Girne Büyük Anadolu Hotel, Anadolu DownTown Ankara, it also has social facilities and workers' houses in cities such as Istanbul, Eskişehir, İzmir, Ankara. With over 180 thousand members, Türk Metal is an organized union in 8 of the 10 largest industrial establishments in Turkey and 40 of the 100 largest industrial establishments. The industrial establishments in which it is organized are shown as leading establishments in their sectors. Some of these are; Mercedes Benz Türk AŞ, Ford Otosan, Bosch, Arçelik, BSH, Karsan, Renault, BMC, Tofaş, Türk Traktör, Delphi, Hema, MAN Türkiye AŞ, Erdemir… Its General President is Pevrul Kavlak, who has also been the General Secretary of TÜRK-İŞ since 2009.
