The Acropolis is a historical landmark in Greece. The most famous such place is the Acropolis of Athens, by reason of some of the most famous in history buildings erected on it. Although mainland in origin, the use of the acropolis model quickly spread to Greek colonies such as Dorian Lato in Crete during the Archaic Period.
