The Assumption Cathedral became the main temple of the city and the first brick architectural construction, different from other churches in the North-East of Russia. Its construction began in 1215 by order of Prince Rostovskogo Konstantina Vsevolodovicha. And four years later Cyril was ordained bishop. By tradition, it is the main temple of the city, it was named in honor of the Assumption of Our Lady. Built of red brick, it is decorated with beautiful white stone carvings, the doors are decorated with gilded copper, and the floors are covered with colored majolica tiles. The general appearance and interior suggest some archaeological discoveries.
