    General Information

Fort Tolukko, situated in the village of Dufa Dufa on the periphery of Ternate City, stands as a historic landmark on the island of Ternate within Indonesia's Maluku Islands. Rising 6 meters tall, this stone-built fortress commands a position atop a cape, elevating it approximately 10.5 meters above sea level. Notably, Fort Tolukko's unique phallic layout is dictated by its immediate topographical surroundings, setting it apart from Dutch constructions like Fort Oranje and Fort Kalamata. With a slender design boasting two bulwarks, reminiscent of Iberian architecture, its primary purpose was to assert control over a rare, reef-free landing point directly facing the fort. Originally intended to house a garrison of 160, Fort Tolukko remains a testament to the strategic significance of Ternate throughout history.
