Burj al-Arab (Arabic: برج العرب, "Arab Tower") is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Burj al-Arab building, designed by Tom Wright, reaches a height of 321 meters and is the tallest building used entirely as a hotel. This building stands on an artificial island located 280 m offshore in the Persian Gulf. Burj al-Arab is owned by Jumeirah. The hotel frequently called as a seven rate star hotel. This is considered hyperbole by people in the tourism sector. It is also seen as a way to "beat" other hotels that call their hotels six stars. Unfortunately, almost all hotel rating systems in the world have a five-star limit. According to the official Burj al-Arab website, this hotel is a "five-star deluxe hotel".
