Masada is a large fortress on the western shore of the Dead Sea. This fortress belonged to the Romans and was conquered by the Zealots. The Zealots killed anyone inside the fortress. Although the Romans tried to take back the fortress, Masada remained firmly in the hands of the Zealots.
