Jokowi Pushes for Stop-Free Toll Payment, Orders Immediate Implementation!

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of the contactless cashless transaction system, or Multi Lane Freeflow (MLFF), on toll roads. He stated that this has also become a priority for President Joko Widodo.

According to Moeldoko, this initiative is a direct mandate from President Joko Widodo and has been designated as a National Strategic Program (PSN), requiring full support from all relevant parties to ensure its successful execution.

"The MLFF has garnered the President's attention, and for matters of business and other agreements, adjustments should be made promptly," said Moeldoko during the Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of MLFF Implementation at the Bina Graha Building in Jakarta, quoting an official statement on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

The former TNI Commander for the 2013-2015 period added that all parties involved in this project must engage in intensive communication to reach a compromise, especially regarding a business model that can benefit both sides.

"I hope Roatex is not hesitant about this investment and remains flexible in negotiations. The government shares the same good intentions to resolve this because it is a directive from the President," Moeldoko stressed.

Previously, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) had formally and informally facilitated the support for the MLFF trial on the Bali Mandara Toll Road. Various scenarios have been tested, with some proving successful, while others require further refinement.

Meanwhile, Director General of Infrastructure Financing at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Triono Junoasmono, stated that the parties are ready to come together again to discuss alternatives for accelerating the MLFF implementation.

Additionally, the President Director of PT Roatex Indonesia Toll System, Attila Keszeg, mentioned that as the implementing entity, they require a clear scheme and timeline for the MLFF implementation.
